DSI Products

Cardiovascular Solutions

DSI has a long history of providing the essential tools to measure cardiovascular endpoints like blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, activity and ECG in both Safety Pharmacology, Toxicology and basic research studies. DSI also provides GLP-compliant and non-GLP software for acquisition and reporting of cardiovascular biomarkers including heart rate variability, baroreflex, pulse wave velocity, and left ventricular pressure.

Small Animal Telemetry
PhysioTel HD-X and HD-S series telemetry implants are used in small animals such as mice, rats, ferrets or guinea pigs. These implants are capable of measuring pressure, temperature, activity and biopotential signals.

Large Animal Telemetry

PhysioTel Digital M and L series implants are designed for single use or long-term implantation in animals of rabbit size or larger. These implants are capable of measuring pressure, temperature, activity and biopotential signals.

Glucose Metabolism Solutions
The HD-XG glucose telemetry implant offers preclinical researchers a novel solution to obtain continuous, real-time, blood glucose, temperature, and activity measurements every second of every day for a least 4 and often 6 to 8 weeks in laboratory mice, rats and large animals. This solution serves many research areas including diabetes, obesity, and other metabolic diseases.

CNS Solutions

Small and Large Animal CNS Solution
Experience the versatility of recording any combination of two biopotential channels (typically EEG and EMG), plus temperature and activity with the PhysioTel™ HD-X02 and HD-S02. With the large animal CNS telemetry, record any combination of up to four biopotential channels (typically EEG, EMG, or ECG), plus temperature and activity with the PhysioTel™ Digital L03 and L04.™ Digital L03 and L04.

Hardwired Monitoring System

DSI’s hardwired (tethered) solutions provide a minimally invasive method to offer continuous measurement (EEG, EMG, EOG, etc.) during neuroscience studies with small animals.  Tethered solutions allow monitoring of up to 12 EEG/EMG channels per animal.

NeuroScore Software
After data acquisition has taken place, DSI’s NeuroScore™ software can be used to efficiently analyze chronic data sets common to neuroscience studies.  This modular platform offers sleep scoring, seizure detection, video synchronization, and batchprocessing capabilities.

Combined Applications
The link between metabolism and the cardiovascular system has been getting more attention due to the link between obesity or type two diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. In rats and larger species, DSI technology can provide combined continuous glucose and cardiovascular telemetry data collection which is collected from ambulatory, stress-free subjects in their home environment, leading to more reliable and translatable data.

Benefits:
  • Observe real time physiologic data
  • Stress free data collection, leading to more accurate data
  • A more comprehensive picture of whole animal cardiovascular and metabolic physiology
Examples of applications that would benefit from this integrated approach include:
  • Hibernation studies
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Heart Failure

About DSI Events

Data Sciences International (DSI) is involved in over 60 events every year. These include scientific meetings such as industry trade shows, courses and seminars, workshops, as well as educational user groups and symposia all over the world.

DSI supported educational events are scientific meetings organized in cooperation with a local institution or society, pharmaceutical company, university, or local telemetry user group. Educational event meetings serve as an educational forum in which researchers can freely share current scientific information with their peers, students, and other interested scientists.

Common to the general theme of the meetings is the data collected through physiological monitoring of freely moving conscious laboratory animals made possible through the use of fully implantable telemetry technology.

Presentations and posters on the latest methods employed by the presenting researchers enable those attending to benefit from the as yet unpublished work of peers. Presentations can be on a wide range of related research topics including surgical implantation methods, data analysis methods, treatment effects of new pharmaceutical compounds, new animal models, behavioral and physiological interactions, basic research on physiological systems, and numerous other whole animal chronic monitoring research topics.

Meetings are held in classroom style with ample time allowed for questions and discussion among the participants. Typical audience sizes run from 40 to 120.
