| DSI PhysioTel® Receivers –
RPC-1 Model for Mice and
Small Animals |
The RPC-1 Receiver is most often used for monitoring animals housed in plastic cages that can be placed on top of the receiver. When monitoring animals housed in metal cages, the RMC-1 model is typically used.
The RPC-1 receiver provides reliable reception of data transmitted via digital telemetry and has two receiving antennae oriented at right angles to minimize dropouts due to directionality of the transmission pattern. It is compatible with single channel TA Series implantable transmitters and MultiPlus TL Series implantable transmitters and converts the telemetry information to a form readily accessible by DSI’s Dataquest A.R.T.™.
Digital data corresponding to the parameters being studied, such as arterial pressure, venous pressure, left ventricular pressure, intra-ocular pressure, bladder pressure, kidney pressure, ECG, EMG, EEG, EOG, temperature, activity, as well as other parameters, is forwarded to the Dataquest A.R.T.™.
The Dataquest A.R.T.™ acquisition system allows up to 16 receivers to be combined together into a single receiving system to extend the range of reception in each individual cage. It is possible to place the RPC-1 receiver as much as 100 meters from the Data Exchange Matrix, which automatically detects and forwards the model and serial number of the RPC-1 to the Dataquest A.R.T.™ system.
The RPC-1 is non-condensing. It should not be exposed to water as this can damage the receiver connector and electronics. Cleaning the receiver can be done by wiping it down with disinfectant only.
The serial number of each receiver is displayed on the front panel,
providing quick visual identification without the need to disturb the animal or move the cage. Also available on the front panel is a label holder allowing a neat, professional identification of the animal. This allows a piece of card stock to be inserted with an animal ID, experiment name, etc.
There are two indicators on the front of the RPC-1. The Carrier Indicator provides easy visual indication of a clear, strong signal from the transmitter. The Power Indicator makes it easy to tell if the Receiver is connected to the Data Exchange Matrix and receiving power.
