DSI hardware simplifies the researcher’s task in retrieving reliable telemetry information from a wide variety of species and housing types. Measuring telemetered data of conscious, free-moving, small and large laboratory animals is achieved with DSI PhysioTel® Receivers and DSI Multi-Frequency Telemetry Repeaters.
PhysioTel® Receivers provide reliable reception of data transmitted via digital telemetry for a wide variety of species, animal sizes, and housing types. Models are available to monitor animals housed in plastic or metal caging as well as special experimental settings using running wheels, treadmills, runs, pens, and mazes.
Multi-Frequency Telemetry Repeaters are ideal for researchers who need to conduct studies in a group housed environment and/or need to have telemetry transmitted over longer ranges. The repeater functions as a signal relay between a PhysioTel® Transmitter and a repeater receiver for large animal telemetry information applications. These repeaters make it possible to house up to eight (8)* different animals in a facility with large pens, multi-frequency telemetry repeaters offer greater flexibility and capabilities in cage design, housing and data acquisition as compared to standard transmitter-receiver options.
Other DSI hardware that assists in gathering telemetry information includes DSI’s Data Exchange Matrix, Telemetry Signal Simulator, and Ambient Pressure Reference Monitor.
The DSI Data Exchange Matrix is able to detect and forward the model and serial number of receivers and the Ambient Pressure Reference Monitor (APR-1) to the Dataquest® A.R.T. system, which collects and maintains digital data from the receiver to the computer to optimize data integrity throughout the system. The Dataquest® A.R.T. system can accommodate up to 33 matrices.
The Telemetry Signal Simulator simulates the output of PhysioTel® Transmitters. It provides a convenient way to learn and demonstrate the use of the Dataquest System without the need for an implanted transmitter and is an invaluable tool for system setup, user training, demonstration, and system validation.
DSI’s Ambient Pressure Reference Monitor (APR-1) ensures accurate pressure measurements in mice, small animals, or large animals when using DSI transmitters. This special type of barometer measures atmospheric pressure and provides dynamic corrections via a digital signal to the computer.
