DSI Data Exchange Matrix
As part of the overall DSI System and specific to the Dataquest® A.R.T. system, Data Exchange Matrices automatically detect and forward the model and serial number of the DSI PhysioTel® Receivers used to gather telemetry information to the Dataquest® A.R.T. system.
DSI’s PhysioTel® Receivers include the RPC-1 Receiver, which is most often used for monitoring animals housed in plastic cages, and the RMC-1 Receiver, which is used for monitoring animals housed in metal cages.
When using the Ambient Pressure Reference Monitor (APR-1) to measure pressure via pressure transmitters, the Data Exchange Matrix also detects and forwards the model and serial number of the APR-1 to the Dataquest® A.R.T. system.
The Data Exchange Matrix also detects changes in signal strength that indicate movement in the animal, and provides one or more digital pulses to the computer upon each movement. It accepts up to 20 inputs: 16 solely for connection to receivers or converters and four for connection to converters and/or other Data Exchange Matrices. It multiplexes the data signals from several receivers and sends the signal stream to the data acquisition system via a Local Area Network type cable.
Each Data Exchange Matrix has a unique serial ID number assigned at the factory that the data acquisition software recognizes when verifying the hardware configuration. Refer to the Dataquest User Guides for information on the configuration and operation of the Dataquest systems. A Dataquest system can accommodate up to 33 matrices.
