Transitioning Technologies

Ensuring researchers continue to collect the data they require — now and into the future.

DSI is committed to providing the life science industry with reliable and innovative products with unsurpassed service. Long-term product availability is dependent upon many conditions, some of which are out of DSI’s control. It is our commitment that when the discontinuation of a product occurs, that it is done with the absolute minimum disruption and impact to our customers.

Why Discontinue Products?

Technology improvements: Often times a product is discontinued because its technical capabilities no longer meet the needs of the marketplace. DSI’s newest telemetry platforms are PhysioTel™ HD and PhysioTel Digital; these telemetry platforms leverage the latest technological advancements to offer scientists the ability to:

  • collect more physiological signals per study
  • see improved pressure sensing and reduced drift
  • experience greater biopotential channel filtering
  • integrate group housing capabilities

Regulatory Requirements: In an effort to improve the health of our environment, the European Union introduced the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive in 2002. The objective behind RoHS is to eliminate harmful substances which are commonly found in electronic equipment.

DSI is contributing to a healthier environment by using the cleanest processes and reducing the use of hazardous materials. This initiative also benefits DSI customers as they will have access to the latest, environmentally-friendly physiologic monitoring products available through DSI.

Notice of Discontinuation

When a product is discontinued, it can no longer be ordered from DSI. DSI will notify customers and where possible, manage a last time purchase of the product. We will also recommend functional product equivalents as appropriate.
