Transmitter Exchange Program
You can’t go wrong with DSI’s Transmitter Exchange Program. Instead of buying a new unit whenever you need one, simply “exchange” your existing DSI transmitter—for a fraction of what you’d pay for a new one. It’s the easy way to reduce your cost per study and make your research budget go further.
Get the most out of your DSI transmitter:
- Guaranteed Accuracy and Functionality—each DSI transmitter is guaranteed to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications for function and accuracy.
- Cost per Study—the cost of your exchanged DSI transmitter is a fraction of the cost to purchase a new transmitter.
- Battery Coverage—each device receives a new battery with a full warranty.
- Sales Representative / Technical Support—your resource to learn more about the Transmitter Exchange Program and warranty information.
DSI Transmitter Exchange Program Process
- Visual Inspection/Test
Pressure catheters and biopotential leads are removed and the electronic assembly is exposed. Solder joints, leads, coil and connections are inspected. Once the device meets visual inspection criteria, it is warmed in an oven for 24 hours to remove excess humidity.
- Electrical Inspection/Test
Each device is given a temporary battery and placed into a controlled environment to validate electrical accuracy. All devices must pass multiple frequency tests. Temperature transmitters must produce accurate temperature readings continuously for 48 hours during multiple temperature cycles.
- Final Assembly
During the final assembly, each device receives a new biocompatible case, and if applicable, a pressure catheter and biopotential leads.
- Device Calibration
The device calibration process provides specific calibration figures for each transmitter. For example, all pressure devices are placed in a pressure chamber and calibrated at three known pressures (750, 850, and 950 mmHg). Depending on the device’s functional channels, a temperature calibration and/or biopotential calibration may also occur.
- Final Packaging
Final packaging of each device begins with a rigorous visual inspection under the microscope at 7-20x. Once devices pass this visual inspection, they are cleaned and placed in fitted sterile trays specific to each model and matched with their corresponding calibration figures.
- Pressure Offset Test
Pressure stability must be demonstrated before devices are ready for shipping. Pressure calibration values are entered into Dataquest A.R.T.™ and all transmitters are monitored for 24 to 48 hours while transmitting real-time pressure values.
- Sterilization
Once all specifications are met, transmitters are sterilized and ready to ship.
The Expedited Transmitter Exchange Program
The Expedited Transmitter Exchange Program allows you to return designated transmitter models, and for an additional fee per transmitter, we will ship your transmitter exchanges within two business days.* Your transmitter exchanges will be refurbished devices ready for surgical implantation.** The expedited delivery service is designed for fulfilling low volumes of transmitter shipments. The ability to fulfill larger expedite requests will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Transmitters returned for failure analysis do not qualify for our Expedite Program.
Advantages of the Expedited Transmitter Exchange Program:
- Reduce downtime between studies during standard transmitter exchange.
- Schedule surgeries and new studies knowing your transmitters will arrive in a timely manner.
- Respond to unplanned study requests without the wait of standard transmitter exchanges.
*If shipping from Europe, the Expedited Transmitter Exchange Program allows you to receive refurbished transmitters within approximately one week of sending your units back to us. Your returned transmitters should be sent to our logistic center in The Netherlands as usual. Product shipments back to you will also be fulfilled through our DSI office in The Netherlands.
**This program is subject to availability. A valid purchase order and shipment tracking number (for product returning to DSI) must be received by DSI at the time the order is placed. The Expedite Program will not increase the lead-time for standard transmitter exchanges. The lead-time will remain 3 weeks or less for standard exchange orders.
