Adapters and Converters
Adapters
Adapters allow you to split the telemetry signal at a point between the receiver and Data Exchange Matrix (DEM), providing an analog voltage version of the telemetry signal that can be sent to another acquisition or analysis device (such as an oscilloscope). Adapters can potentially substitute for Dataquest A.R.T. Analog.
| Adapter | Compatible Transmitters | Signal Provided | Details |
| DL10 | F20-EET F40-EET F50-EEE
D70-EEE | Uncalibrated analog voltage output via mini-phone jacks & RJ45 output to DEM | The DL10 can be used either with or without a Data Exchange Matrix (needs a separate power supply if not used with the DEM). The DL10 is built to suit a specific transmitter model only. The signal may be calibrated in the third-party software or device. |
| R11CPA | PA-C10 PA-C40
PA-D70 | Calibrated pressure analog voltage output via a BNC connector & RJ45 output to DEM | The R11CPA can be used either with or without a Data Exchange Matrix (needs a separate power supply if not used with the DEM). This device should be paired with an APR-1, but can function without it. |
| Option R08 | ETA-F10 EA-F20
ETA-F20
CA-F40
CTA-F40
CTA-D70 | Uncalibrated biopotential analog voltage output via a BNC connector & RJ45 output to DEM | The Options R08 and R12 can be connected in series to extract both biopotential and temperature data from single channel biopotential and temperature transmitters (ETA-F20, CTA-F40, CTA-D70). The order in which they are connected does not matter. The signal from an Option R08 or R12 may be calibrated in the third-party software or device. |
| Option R12 | ETA-F10 TA-F10 ETA-F20
TA-F20
CTA-F40
TA-F40
TA-F50
CTA-D70
TA-D70 | Uncalibrated temperature analog voltage output via a BNC connector & RJ45 output to DEM |
Notes:
- There is currently no analog output solution for the following transmitters: C50-PXT, F50-EET, D70-CCTP, D70-PCT, D70-PCTP
- It is recommended that a Compatibility Cable be used with these adapters.
- When using an adapter, the associated receiver must be configured as an old generation receiver (RLA1020) because the software will not automatically recognize it. Also, the DRA configuration of receivers cannot be used and the maximum cable length between the receiver and matrix is 10m.
- Each adapter is used with one transmitter/receiver pair.
- Activity signals are not available through the adapter’s analog output signal. A signal splitter has to be used with a cable access adapter to get an analog activity signal from pins 1 and 6.
- Manuals for the DL10, Option R08, and Option R12, and R11CPA have recently been updated and are available electronically by contacting our Technical Support Department at Support@datasci.com. Refer to the manuals for more detailed information about the adapters.
Converters
Converters allow you to bring an analog voltage signal from a non-telemetry source into the Dataquest A.R.T. system.
| Converter | Sampling Source | Details |
| C11V | The C11V collects data from a device that provides an analog voltage output between -2.5 and +2.5 Volts | The input voltage has the following relationship to the output frequency:
2.5V » 2000Hz
0V » 4000Hz
-2.5V » 6000Hz |
| C12V | The C12V collects data from a device that provides an analog voltage output between -10 and +10 Volts | The input voltage has the following relationship to the output frequency:
10V » 1000Hz
0V » 1500Hz
-10V » 2000Hz |
| C10T | Collects temperature data from its surrounding environment | Resolution: ± 0.05°
Celsius Range: 0-40°
Celsius Accuracy: ± 1° Celsius |
| C10I | Collects light intensity data from its surrounding environment | Measures light intensity and provides an unconverted output in Hertz. The C10I is most commonly used to tell the difference between distinct levels of illumination (such as day and night lighting in animal rooms), but could be calibrated using known light intensity inputs. |
Notes:
- When sampling, the converters listed above use a sampling slot.
- The manuals for the C11V and C12V have recently been updated and are available electronically by contacting our Technical Support Department at Support@datasci.com. They provide in-depth explanations for connecting various signals to the Dataquest A.R.T. system through the converter.
- The APR-1 is technically a converter, but does not use a sampling slot – it measures the atmospheric pressure in its surrounding environment.
