DSI PhysioTel® Multiplus D70-PCTP Dual Pressure transmitter for Large Animals

The dual pressure capable D70-PCTP transmitter is a versatile option for researchers with a need to monitor several physiologic parameters in large animals.  In addition to being able to monitor activity, temperature and a biopotential, the D70-PCTP contains dual pressure catheters that can be used in a variety of combinations to measure parameters such as systemic pressure, left ventricular pressure (LV pressure) and intra-pleural pressure.

The dual pressure D70-PCTP is typically used in Safety Pharmacology studies to address core battery requirements in cardiovascular (CV) and respiratory applications.  Core CV measurements include systemic pressure and ECG and includes LV pressure as a secondary measurement.  For respiratory studies the second pressure channel is used to monitor intra-pleural pressure to provide a measure of respiration rate.

In addition to providing the physiologic parameters from the transmitter, DSI provides detailed analysis for blood pressure and left ventricular pressure via our Ponemah Analysis Modules.

Measurement Specifications

Pressure Range -20 to 300 mmHg
Ambient Pressure Range 670 to 800 mmHg
Maximum Altitude 625 meters

Pressure Accuracy

Initial Accuracy ±3 mmHg
Pressure Drift < 2 mmHg per month nominal

Specifications are nominal. Some parameters, such as minimum animal weight, may vary depending on research methodology and preference. For example, some researchers have implanted PhysioTel Multiplus transmitters in animals smaller than 175 grams. Larger cage sizes also can be accommodated with special configurations. Specifications, performance and accuracy are valid for the warranted battery life and only when data are recorded using Dataquest A.R.T. with factory-supplied calibration values. Transmitters may work over wider ranges with reduced accuracy.

When measuring pressure in mice, small animals, and large animals using DSI transmitters, it may be necessary to use an Ambient Pressure Reference Monitor to ensure accurate pressure measurements.
