ST. PAUL, MN, Sept. 11, 2015 - Data Sciences International (DSI) announced that its telemetry implant designed to obtain continuous real-time measurements of blood glucose in laboratory animals has been selected as a finalist for R&D Magazine’s prestigious R&D 100 Awards.

The awards celebrate the most significant new technology from the past year in industry, academia, and government-sponsored research. DSI’s continuous glucose monitoring implant was nominated in the Analytical/Test category.

The implant features a sensor that is placed directly into the bloodstream so researchers can detect instantaneous changes in blood glucose, body temperature, and activity, reducing animal stress and measurement variability associated with the use of glucose test strips.

“We are honored to be recognized for our HD-XG continuous glucose monitoring implant,” said DSI CEO Bert Harman. “It truly is a technological achievement because it allows researchers to observe indicators of diabetes and metabolic diseases as they develop. This nuanced understanding of blood glucose levels will ultimately result in the development of better drugs, devices, and therapies for humans.”

The winners of the 2015 R&D 100 Awards will be announced at a gala banquet on Friday, November 13 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. R&D Magazine will also be hosting a two-day technology conference so researchers can attend educational sessions and engage with the world’s most successful innovators.
