Blood Pressure
Tail cuff and other restraints have a profound effect on both blood pressure and heart rate on other physiological measurements. DSI pressure transmitters provide stress-free cardiovascular pressure data in animal models such as mice, rats, dogs, primates or other similar sized animals. The transmission catheter transmits pressure from the tip of the catheter to a very stable sensor located within the body of the transmitter. Animals can be monitored without the effects of anesthesia and without handling or restraint with reduces stress-induced artifact.
Some pressure transmitters also offer one or several additional monitoring capabilities including biopotentials such as ECG, EEG or EMG. Transmitters that measure biopotential have flexible leads extending from the housing, similar to those used in heart pacemakers.
